PURPOSE:
The Controller is a key member of the finance team responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization.
This role entails managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
The Controller plays a critical role in providing accurate financial information to guide strategic decision-making and ensure the organization’s financial health.
This position is responsible for providing positive and professional leadership and management of the accounting team and upholding the company’s integrity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and distribute accurate and timely financial statements and reports to internal stakeholders and shareholders.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data and reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting: achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), relevant regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Coordinate and support audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance activities.
Process Improvement: continuously assess and improve financial processes, systems, and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Streamline workflows to support the timely delivery of financial information.
Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance/accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
Strategic Support: Collaborating with senior management to develop and execute financial strategies; providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Financial Integrity: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of financial records and reports.
Timely Reporting: Oversees the timely preparation and distribution of financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
Budget Adherence: monitor and report on budget performance, addressing deviations and proposing corrective actions as necessary.
Ensure that all spending aligns with approved budgets.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls, compliance, and proactive risk assessment.
Process Excellence: Implement efficient financial processes, systems, and procedures to enhance productivity and accuracy.
Identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate the finance/accounting team, fostering collaboration and a growth-oriented environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation preferred.
Proven experience 8+ years in financial management and accounting roles, with 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficient in financial software and systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
