Position Vacancy Teaching Faculty: Wildlife Science Assistant Professor of Wildlife Science Salary Range: $50,000.
00 - $60,000.
00 Job Description Paul Smith’s College invites applications for a permanent faculty appointment in Wildlife Science (9-months/year).
We are searching for a creative and innovative science educator to instruct courses related to wildlife biology/management and to play a key role in the progression of the Fisheries and Wildlife Science Program.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses depending on need and qualifications, possible courses include Wildlife Management, Biostatistics, Wildlife Techniques, Wildlife Capstone, Ornithology, Mammalogy, or other courses in the biology/ecology field.
The primary responsibilities of this position are teaching and program development.
Additional job responsibilities include providing academic advisement to students, serving on college/department committees, and pursuing professional development/outreach.
The College Paul Smith’s College is a small liberal arts school located within the 6-million-acre Adirondack Park of upstate New York.
The college campus is a 14,400-acre mosaic of intact and working forests, academic facilities, diverse water bodies, numerous wetlands, and a vast trail network.
Academic programs at the college take full advantage of our unique location to provide unmatched experiential education.
The college offers over 20-degree options.
Programs complementary to this position include Forestry, Natural Resource Conservation, Environmental Science, and Biology to name a few.
Qualifications Successful candidates will complement the expertise of existing faculty and contribute to high quality experiential education.
Qualified applicants must have a graduate degree in wildlife science or a closely related field.
A Ph.
D.
is preferred but a strong candidate with a master’s degree would certainly be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and an eagerness to develop the next generation of wildlife biologists.
Preferred qualifications Experience teaching introductory or advanced courses in wildlife biology/ecology.
Skilled in program language R and with the ability to implement it into classroom instruction.
Adept in the field techniques used to capture and assess birds and mammals.
Aspiration to develop undergraduate research opportunities.
Experience and skills in the field of wetland science is highly desirable.
