*Job Description:*
Must be certified in NYS as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide medication management, collaborate with additional members of treatment team (i.
e.
therapists, nurses, etc.
) to ensure holistic approach, and responsible for discharge management.
*Responsibilities:*
- Provide primary care services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and medical assessments
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests and imaging studies
- Prescribe medications and other treatments
- Perform minor surgical procedures, such as suturing wounds and removing skin lesions
- Provide family planning services, including contraceptive counseling and prescribing birth control methods
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
- Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions
- Assist with discharge planning for patients transitioning from hospital to home or other care settings
*Skills:*
- Proficient in using electronic medical record systems, such as eClinicalWorks or similar systems
- Knowledge of sterile processing techniques and infection control protocols
- Strong medical documentation skills, including accurate and timely charting of patient encounters
- Familiarity with family planning methods and counseling techniques
- Understanding of psychopharmacology for the treatment of mental health conditions
- Experience in providing care for senior patients in nursing home or long-term care settings
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
